Add Nodes in Bulk via ServiceNow

Cloudhouse Guardian (Guardian) offers the ability to import nodes in bulk from a number of sources, including AWS, Azure, CSV files, and more. This topic describes how to add nodes in bulk by importing them into your Guardian instance via ServiceNow.

Note: Any existing nodes that are detected are not re-added to your Guardian instance. If any changes have occurred on the node since the last import, the existing node is updated accordingly.

To add nodes in bulk via ServiceNow, complete the following steps:

  1. In the Guardian web application, navigate to the Add Nodes tab (Inventory > Add Nodes).

  2. Click the ServiceNow button. The Add Node via ServiceNow page is displayed.

  3. Here, complete the following options:

    Option

    Description

    Instance URL field

The URL of your ServiceNow instance. From here, Guardian will import your node(s).

    Username field

The username of the account configured to use ServiceNow.

    Password field

The password for the corresponding username.

    Filter field

Option to filter nodes via a ServiceNow query. Enter a query name to filter the results if desired.

    Request limit field

The number of records you want to retrieve at a time. Enter a value in the field, by default this is set to '500'.

    Table drop-down list

The table you want to pull data from via a ServiceNow query. Select an option from the drop-down list.

    Host name property drop-down list

The name of the ServiceNow property that you want to import the nodes from. Select an option from the drop-down list.

  4. Once you have set the correct values for each of the options displayed, click Discover Nodes to add the ServiceNow nodes to your Guardian instance.

Once complete, any nodes that are detected within ServiceNow are automatically added to the Detected tab (Inventory > Detected). Here, you can choose which nodes you'd like to promote to the Monitored tab (Inventory > Monitored) for regular scanning. For more information, see Detected Nodes.
